But, at age 21, Handler decided to pursue stand-up comedy as a full-time profession as she was able to discover her storytelling abilities. Her career began with an acting gig in the cast that included all females for the Oxygen channel's reality television show Girls behaving badly. It was comprised of cameras hidden in the background and practical humor. The show ran between 2002 and 2005. The handler was later employed in numerous other shows including Weekends at D.L. Handler then followed up with appearing in the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour, in the United States. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend (and HBO) have been able to broadcast live stand-up shows. In 2010, she confirmed that she would be hosting for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. This made her the second female in history, following Roseanne Barr, to host VMAs.
