Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell, born April 28th 1952, is an American actress on television, stage and film. Her parts in Dances with Wolves, Stands With A Fist and Passion Fish earned her Academy Award nominations. McDonnell is best known for her appearances in Battlestar Galactica as President Laura Roslin as well as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore, and Rose in Donnie Darko. McDonnell was a character in Captain Sharon Raydor on seasons 5-7 of TNT's television series The Closer. She also played in Major Crimes, the spin-off series on TNT's network, as the Commander Sharon Raydor.
